About Destination: The famous Tarangire River and dried swamps make for a unique landscape with hidden treasures if you choose to venture beyond the well-traveled borders.

What to See: As part of northern Tanzania, Tarangire National Park can see changes in the wildlife due to migrations with the seasons. During the dry season, much of the game returns to the park and you can see elephant herds, impala, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, and buffalo. The most common creature here is the elephant, which can always be seen in large herds.

Makes this Park Unique: Other than guided walking safaris, Tarangire is also known by visitors who wish to see the cultural side of Tanzania along with the wild side. Visiting communities on day trips to Maasai or Barabaig villages is a popular trek for many. One very unique feature of this park are the hundreds of ancient rock paintings you can see along the Dodoma Road near Kolo.
